approx. 100 pcs. Spawn-Dowels colonized with mycelium, recommended to inoculate 1 log length 50 - 80 cm, diameter 25 - 35 cm Fruiting season: summer This Reishi species grows, in contrast to Ganoderma lucidum, to which it is closely related and which it closely resembles, also on conifers. The inoculation of logs with mushroom cultures can be done during the whole year, if the logs are stored frost-protected while spawn run. According to species, mushrooms will fruit several years, till all nutrients of the wood have been consumed by the fungus. Reishi grow only on dead wood, healthy trees will not be colonized by this mushroom species! Growing conditions: Spawn run: 21 - 27 °C Primordia formation: 18 – 24 ° C Fruiting: 21 – 27 ° C For a perfect yield, the quality of the logs is essential! Please use conifers (fir, douglas fir, hemlock, spruce, pine, larch, cedar). We recommend to use logs (with bark!) diameter approx. 20 -35 cm length 50 bis 80 cm. General information about Reishi: The mushroom contains vitamins and minerals, including iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc, copper, manganese and germanium. In addition, it contains Polysaccharides and triterpenes, which are even more important, as they have shown potent action against the stated diseases. Constituents were found to be effective in treating high blood pressure, thrombosis and high blood cholesterol level. Presumably, this is due to one major class of compounds in Reishi, the triterpenes (cyclic carbon hydrogenes, such as ganodermic, ganolucidic and lucidenic acids). It is also shown that the mushroom's components possess antihistaminic properties, which means it helps preventing the typical allergic symptoms! Reishi is also used with remarkable results in treating sleeplessness and nervousness. Some of its components have calming effects on the central nervous system and induce sound sleep. An active constituent of Reishi has been found to improve the activity of the inner cardiac muscle, increase the blood flow and reduce the oxygen consumption of the cardiac muscle. Several studies confirmed the positive effects on the cardiovascular system. In China, hepatitis patients are treated with Ling Zhi extracts. In a clinical study of 355 cases of hepatitis B treated with Reishi extract, 92.4% of the patients had positive results. In Asia, especially in Japan, Reishi has been used in the treatment of different cancer diseases for several hundred years. Now, Reishi has been researched systematically for some years, with astonishing results! Researches have been carried out in particular in the Linus-Pauling-Institute for Science and Medicine. 250 cancer patients who have already been given up on have been treated with Reishi extracts. It could be shown that when given in high dosages of more than 5g, vitamin C has to be administered as well to prevent diarrhoea. Clearly, the patients had less problems caused by infections. Production of antibodies improved; and the immune defence system, especially of the helper-T cells could be activated. In higher doses of more than 5g Ling Zhi extracts proved to have an especially positive effect against lung cancer, brain tumors, liver cancer, kidney and pancreas cancer.
